Description

This project was addressed to secondary school students involved in climate change, since they are the ones leading the organization of civil society to promote climate action and they are also part of the most affected group of people by it.

Thanks to their knowledge regarding the local reality and its comparison to the global one, these students empowered themselves to make proposals for better local conditions. The proposals were spread among the citizens and brought to the political and administrative spheres of the municipality.

The project included, within three stages, workshops, interviews, the development of dissemination and informative materials and public presentations. The students also created two policy papers (one for each school) and eight videos (four for each school).

In the policy papers were included all the proposals that the students wanted to advance to the political sphere and the videos were created as a channel to communicate such proposals. Thanks to this project, Ecoserveis also developed a guide to environmental service-learning and community service for climate action.

STAGE 1: awareness, diagnosis and planification

In this initial stage, different concepts are introduced and analysed through participatory and educational dynamics. Critical thinking is promoted and an action plan is developed to begin its execution.

STAGE 2: execution

Here, the plan is implemented through interviews, group activities and individual work.

STAGE 3: reflection and dissemination

This phase of the project focuses on spreading awareness of the activities organized by the students. An appraisal and monitoring of the process are also carried out due to its importance in service-learning and community service projects.
